It’s Summertime and we’re Praying for Rain! Our first cut of hay was as good as we hoped, fertilizing helped a lot, so we were able to put up a good amount of hay. Unfortunately, with the little rain that we have had, the second cutting is looking rather poor.

Reggie and Vinny are continuing to grow tall and strong. Reggie “Loves Everyone”, he is always in our back pocket. The problem is that he is get¬ting just naughty enough that you have to keep your eye on him at all times. Vinny is getting very tall and likes to be messed with, but prefers to be close to Mom.

Cliff continues to line drive our yearlings, making sure they don’t forget their training. Each time he harnesses them it gets easier, in fact, they are acting like old pros already. As big and broad as they are all getting, they are starting to look like old pros too.

We had the vet out for our last round of ultrasounds and it looks like all the hard work during breeding season has paid off because all 8 of our mares are expecting foals for 2008, considering all goes well.

Make sure you take a look at our FOR SALE page. We have offered many horses for sale due to the pending foals coming. These are great quality, well bred, and very good natured horses. Most are broke to the hitch and all of them load, clip, wash, stand for the farrier, and have a lot of potential for any discipline you may be looking for in a draft horse. In fact, we would love to keep all of them ourselves, but our barn can only house so many. Feel free to call if you have any questions.

Schools out, our pool is up, garden’s growing, and we don’t have much time for any of it because it’s summertime and around here that means a lot of riding and a lot of baling hay!

Thanks for checking in with us and we hope you have a great summer!
